Jason Fleischer's journey with The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) began in December of 2003. After moving to NYC, a friend encouraged him to attend an information meeting for LLS's endurance sports training program, Team In Training (TNT). TNT trains individuals to complete marathon, triathlon, and cycle events while they raise critical funds to benefit LLS. At the time, Jason didn't have any direct connection to blood cancers, but did have a connection to cancer. He lost his grandmother, Lisa Fleischer, to bone cancer and his Aunt Virginia to breast cancer. Jason thought signing up for TNT would be a great way to honor them, make new friends and get into shape. He had no idea how this one decision would change his life.

Since that first event in 2004, Jason has been a part of 15 TNT seasons. He quickly progressed from participant, to mentor and eventually to assistant marathon coach for TNT's NYC Chapter. Through this journey, he has had the pleasure of meeting and training hundreds of people—many becoming life-long friends, and one in particular, became his wife.

During that time, Jason also experienced the loss of two close TNT friends, Larry Comroe, and Dave Wagner, both to Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma in 2011. Watching his friends lose their battles at such young ages gave Jason even more motivation to do everything he could to support the efforts of LLS.

In 2011, he accepted a nomination to join the Team in Training Executive Leadership Committee, an entity tasked with growing and developing the TNT Corporate Team program. As an initiative with this Committee, he formed two teams to honor the memory of both of his friends, Team Larry Comroe and Team Dave Wagner. Team Larry raised $115,000 over the course of one year. Team Dave has been a staple for Team in Training's Spring Season for the past 3 years, and has raised over $100,000.

Dave and Larry are two of the many reasons that Jason is so passionate about LLS. They, along with so many others currently battling and those who have yet to battle, are some of the reasons he continues to be involved after so many years, and why he has accepted the 2015 MWOY nomination.

Jason has been involved with the MWOY Campaign since its inception in NYC in 2011. Given the incredible success of the 2013 and 2014 RALLY Campaigns (collectively raising over $377,000), Jason is both proud and honored to represent the team for 2015. Jason and his team are rallying in an effort to raise $150,000 in support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Jason grew up on Long Island (Massapequa), and currently lives in Manhattan. He is a Senior Director with the Abacus Group, an executive recruitment firm specializing in the permanent and temporary placement of Accounting & Finance professionals. When he's not at work, he spends his time trying to stay in shape (endurance events, yoga, crossfit, etc) and traveling with his wife, Melissa.
